Though online Mahjong does involve a certain amount of chance, the Mahjong online game is more about tactics and good strategy. The game is ideally played between four players, each getting between 13 and 16 tiles in order to begin the Mahjong game. As the game goes the players pick up and discard tiles in order to make melds, this makes the Mahjong online game similar to the Rummy game. The goal of the game is for a player to meld all his tiles into sets. The possible sets in online Mahjong are different than those that can be made in Rummy, as there are no suits in this game, and the melds are mostly composed of identical Mahjong tiles. A good example is a "pong", a set of three identical tiles and "kong" which is a meld of four identical Mahjong tiles. Play Mahjong online and learn more with each game.
